Three Photographers:
by Pat Cooney, Charles Heisterkamp and Joe Hunt

February 3-26, 2011
"First Friday" Reception February 4th, 5-9PM

Isadore Gallery, for the month of February, will offer fans of photography a rare treat. Three distinguished, award-winning photographers have combined their talents to produce an outstanding exhibition.

Pat Cooney will be showing work from his recent book, Natural Colors, an exquisite collection of fruit and vegetable photographs. Cooney is a retired professor of physics who worked on early holographs. Now a full time photographer, his in-depth knowledge of the physics of light is reflected in his superb images. His “produce portraits” contrast the colors of simple objects. Cooney likes to quote Arnold Newman: “Photography…is not real at all. It is an illusion of reality with which we create our own private world.”

Charles Heisterkamp’s love of photography was instilled by his grandfather, a talented photographer who gave him his first camera. Heisterkamp pursued a long career as a surgeon that included photographic documentation of groundbreaking medical procedures. After fifty years and a dozen cameras, his love of photography continues to engage him. Heisterkamp travels widely and the exhibit will include his subjects from China, France and the New York City. A number of Heisterkamp’s images will be photographs printed on canvas.

Joe Hunt, selected as photographer of the year by the Lancaster Photographic Institute, is both a skilled photographer, and a superb printer. As a teenager he took pictures with a box camera and developed the photographs in his basement. After a career working for a major steel corporation, he returned to his love of picture taking. He is particularly interested in making images of architecture and wildlife. Hunt is the photographer for the Lancaster Historic Preservation Trust and Strasburg Restoration and Preservation, Inc.

Three Photographers will be on display at Isadore Gallery, 228 N. Prince St. in Lancaster, from February 3 to 26. You may meet the artists at the First Friday reception on February 4 from 5 to 9 PM. Normal gallery hours are Thursdays and Fridays, 10-6, Saturdays 10-5, and by appointment call 299-0127.
