Ron Ettelman has been creating art for over 50 years. After receiving formal art training and working in the commercial art world, he opened a picture frame and art gallery business. He accumulated a considerable amount of leftover materials at his framing shop that were too good to throw out. Thus was born his unique style of art: mixed media assemblages. Ettelman believes like scientists tell us that things are not created or destroyed but in a continuous state of change. He interweaves a variety of techniques using materials as diverse as metal, mother-of-pearl, ivory, slate, and glass. His process varies, but the art produced shares a spirit that is driven by his interest in Eastern Philosophy. Viewers enjoy his jewel-like colors and whimsical motifs. “A Vessel Half Empty” will be on display at Isadore Gallery, 228 N. Prince Street in Lancaster from June 25 through August 1. The artist will be present at the First Friday Reception on July 3 from 5-9 PM. Normal gallery hours are Thursdays and Fridays 10-6, Saturdays 10-5, and by appointment call 717-299-0127.
