Local Color by Jeff Wiles
August 6 - August 29
"First Friday" Reception August 7th, 5-9PM
Photographs taken by Jeff Wiles depict local color whether they are in black and white or in full color. Wiles captures with his camera the individual peculiarities of people and places. “Street photography is a skill I’ve practiced for years. Although the near misses far outnumber the keepers, the satisfaction of catching (this gent’s eyes and character) makes it all worthwhile.”
Isadore Gallery in Lancaster will be presenting the photographic art of Jeff Wiles during the month of August. His works include local landmarks, character studies, Cityscapes, and still life compositions. Some images are completely real, and others have been digitally collaged to create invented scenes. “As a photographer and image-maker, I’m interest in making pictures that “speak”, through any means available.”
Wiles has been taking photographs for over 20 years but has only recently began exhibiting. Not surprisingly, he is receiving much acclaim for his art. He has won many awards including: “Best of Show” at the Hershey Museum Gallery this May, 3rd Place in the International Street Photography Contest in September 2008, 1st Prize (Photography) at the Figuratively Speaking show of the Art Association of Harrisburg, 2nd Prize at the Photography Exhibition of the Susquehanna Museum of Art in May 2007, and was selected for the Pennsylvania” “Art of the State” juried exhibition in 2008 and 2006.
Photographs by Jeff Wiles will be on exhibit at Isadore Gallery, 228 N. Prince Street in Lancaster August 6 through 29. Normal gallery hours are Thursdays and Fridays, 10-6, Saturdays 10-5, and by appointment call 299-0127. The artist will be present at the First Friday opening reception on August 7, 5-9 PM.
