Master and Apprentice: Teacher-Student Exhibit

Master and Apprentice:
Teacher-Student Exhibit
April 5 - April 14, 2007
"First Friday" Reception April 6th, 5-9PM

Isadore Gallery in Lancaster, PA will be hosting an exhibition entitled “Master Artists and Apprentices” from April 5-14, 2007. Art is one of the time-honored professions that still benefits from the approach of novices studying under masters. The exhibition features the work of college art professors and their students. The show illustrates how both technical skills and a philosophy of art-making can be passed from professor to student. The variety of approaches and materials used reflects the diversity in college art departments today. Submitted pieces include oil paintings, drawings, prints, pottery, glass, metal art, encaustic paintings, and works using fabric, cast paper, and hand-made paper. It is fun for gallery visitors to draw their own conclusions as to what the student may have gleaned from the master. Participating artists include:

Kristen Tabone Woodward, Professor of Art, Albright College with student Megan Dietz
John Hampshire, Professor of Art, Skidmore College with former student Miles Halpern
Dale Huffman, Professor of Art, Carlow University with student Collette Zielinski
William DeBernardi, Professor of Art, Carlow University with former student Justin Mazzei
